Potential United NATO zone
September 25, 2018
This map is a updated version of our previous map which discusses what a potential “NATO” zone in Syria would look like, if both Turkey, the SDF and the US Government were to find a way to agree on a common framework for cooperation and managing the Northern and Eastern sections of the country they control, in addition to the Al-Tanf 55km exclusion zone which is being held currently by Syria Arab armed opposition fighters who work with US Special Forces. This map also assumes that the NW “greater Idlib” opposition pocket is put under the direct administration of Turkey and extremist groups within the pocket are dissolved or defeated. In total, this area would be roughly 43% of Syria’s total territory.
