People Demand Change is currently conducting monitoring and evaluation (M&E) services within Syria and Turkey. Within Syria, PDC’s team of cultural experts, along with technical experts, conducts M&E for previous programs. Through inspections and local council interviews, PDC can assess capacity levels and address institutional gaps with additional support and further training. It is important to the PDC mission that local councils and community activists eventually gain control of the M&E processes, and as such PDC engages in Training-of-Trainers (TOT) programs.
In Turkey, PDC works to train 100 Syrian activists, local council members, and community leaders in four of Syria’s Northern provinces on how to properly conduct and implement an effective monitoring and evaluation regimen. PDC has already conducted a five-day TOT for trainers in Turkey. Those trained on the M&E curriculum will then be supported to return and conduct additional trainings inside Syria.
